Praise for Pataks

Last week I contacted Pataks to complain about the plastic taste in their mango chutney from a ready to eat pappadums kit. They emailed the next day to reply and say they would reimburse me. Yesterday I received a £5 goodwill cheque. The kit only cost me about £1.50!! Fantastic customer services. Why can't they all be like this??

My father used to work for Mr. Patak in the 1960s - when he just had two shops! He was only ever interested in money and if you read the various newspaper reports you will see that his heirs are just the same! They squabbled amongst one another over inheriting his furtune, even wrongly claiming Legal Aid in the process!

How is that relevant to the original post?

Nothing wrong with a company being interested in profit, anyway, especially if it doesn't get in the way of customer service. Clearly in Pataks case they take customer service seriously, so good luck to them I say.

Many successful business people have been perceived (rightly or wrongly) to have trampled on other people to get to the top. Stories about them in Scotland are known as "Aye, weel, Ah kent his faither" ones.

I used to work for an accountant and we had a client who we used to do a cheque run for every two weeks. This involved printing cheques, remittance advices and address labels for all his suppliers. Each time he'd send a member of staff to collect them (his business was only a five minute walk away). Under no circumstances could we put the cheques, etc in a new envelope, we always had to use a second hand one because he thought that if we used a brand new envelope we'd charge him for it. I remember on one occasion he came into our office with a huge pile of old envelopes, it turned out he'd been saving up all the envelopes we'd used to send him stuff in the past. He offered to let us have the by now third hand envelopes in exchange for a handful of elastic bands! This may help to explain how he'd managed to buy a villa in Lanzarote.

Read my post again! His daughter did sponge of the state to get Legal Aid to fight for his fortune!

Yes, Patak did work hard, but he also forced his labour force to do the same - my father had a heart attack at the age of 33 working for Patak!

Possibly, assuming his neighbours allow him to use their wireless network so he doesn't have to pay for his own broadband ;).

Are you trying to infer Patak getting the most out of his workforce is responsible for your dad's heart attack? Do you have any evidence? No wonder you've got a Solicitor 'looking' for you!
