need advice-flying dog from amsterdam to manchester

I am trying to fly my dog from amsterdam airport to manchester.I originally found her as a 4 week old puppy on a main road in Greece last may.She stayed in Greece with my friends and had all her shots rabies incl and we did her blood test and she has a pet passport until i flew her in oct to my best friend in amsterdam till the 6 months had elapsed after her rabies shot to allow her into the uk.So now the 6 months have passed i have been trying in vain to get her a flight to manchester.I was planning to go over and bring her back on the same plane as me in cargo. The problem is klm fly dogs-but only on the permitted routes london and glasgow-(how ridiculous and stupid this is as there is a middle of the country too!)and bmi baby will fly her for a ridiculous £575!!!!
I flew 2 dogs back from rhodes, greece in 2003 to manchester for £150 for the two of them,so surely there must be an airline that will fly from amsterdam-manchester that can carry my dog in the cargo. She weighs 15kg and her box is 20kg.Even if i can fly her to liverpool or birmingham or fly her out from brussels, belgium.Does anyone know of any other airlines or have had experience of this or flown a dog from amstdam to england?
I am desperate to get my girl to me as my friend in holland is leaving at the end of april to work in another country-any advice would be greatly appreciated.dorne.xxx

Can you not get a train part of the way? Have you tried finding flights to Leeds-Bradford airport?

HAve you considered just driving it on the ferry? We are going to do this when we visit the Netherlands with our dog.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

We drive our 2 (Great Danes!) between Uk and Germany. I wouldn't like to fly them. Is driving not an option?

    Bringing a 'dog' from dam?

Dont do it....its not a mule...talk to Frank! lol
  • they definitely take dogs on the p&o Rotterdam to Hull ferry, and they have a kennelling area next to the car deck - could this be an option? It is overnight though, but there may be other, shorter ferry routes.

The reason i need to fly her is because she gets travel sick really badly in a car, even with tablets, but shes ok on a plane and it only takes 1hr 20 mins to fly from amsterdam to manchester, making the travelling quicker and easier for her and less stress.I can't believe an airline doesn't fly animals from holland into other airports apart from heathrow and glasgow-its just so ridiculous.I will try leeds and bradford. The 2 airlines i spoke to said london was the designated route by defra so why do they have an animal reception place at manchester airport and i brought 2 dogs in from the small greek island of rhodes 7 years ago if its not a designated route-the mind boggles. Will phone up defra to see if they know any airlines and can help-thanks to all for ur help.xxx

I don't quite understand from your post whether the dog will be travelling under the PETS scheme or not. Assuming it is, this is the list of permitted air routes:

    http://www.defra.gov.uk/wildlife-pets/pets/travel/pets/documents/eu-air.pdf

Rhodes-Manchester is a permitted route, but as you can see, the only allowed route from Amsterdam is to Heathrow. I think routes can only be allowed when the airline flying it has the right facilities in place at each airport to handle the dog. So yes there is a reception centre at Manchester, but the airlines that fly there from Amsterdam aren't the airlines that have a set up in Manchester to deal with dogs under the PETS scheme.

    Have you tried KLM Amsterdam/Norwich?

Oops, just seen above post, so I assume its not on the permitted list.
