New monitor options - advice please?

I started a thread a while ago asking for advice on a new computer system. I can't find the thread anymore and I can't remember who all posted on it.

Thank you to those who took the time to reply, your advice was v. helpful.

We've got the system sorted out now, but need to decide between monitors.

Could anyone with a spare few minutes have a look at these links and give me an opinion please?

The choice is to be made between the two monitors in the links below - no other monitor can be considered.

There's only about £60 + vat of a difference in price so I'm not concerned about that.

I've always gone for Sony in the past.......we had a laptop with an X-black screen and the quality was excellent. There are a few differences with these screens that I'm not too sure about though.

The response time is the same for both, but the frequency is higher with the Viewsonic (85 as opposed to 75). However the brightness seems better with the Sony. Assuming that's what 'luminance' refers to, that is.

Greatful as ever for any opinions.

Thanks peeps. :)

Thanks for reply Joe, and taking the time to post the link, but the only options I'm considering are the above. I really should have said that in my post, sorry for not being clear. I'll edit original post shortly.

The monitor is part of a configured spec system from Mesh. The ViewSonic is the standard or it can be upgraded to the Sony.

I realise there have been bad reviews about Mesh, but I've had many dealings with them and never had a problem.

I'm getting a freebie upgrade with one of the drives and I'm also getting a sizeable discount (which has come about through a personal thing).

I just need to decide whether to take the Viewsonic that's on offer or the Sony.

Yep get old fashioned tube...best picture etc (if you have the room)

Buy one from Morgan computers or Morgan auctions for about £30 and save yourself a fortune.

I got a new Tiny 19" for that. OK first one was duff but no problem sorting it out.

Other than that I think they are much the same nowdays.

You really need to see them working to be able to make an informed judgment.

Personally I would go for the ViewSonic, having seen a mate of mines, its fantastic.

    Thank you Boohbah! :)

That's what I was after, an opinion about the particular monitors. (Although I do appreciate everyone's input.)

Anyone add anything else? Probably need to order tomorrow.
