Help with redundancy consultation period (Full time / Part time)

Options
The company I work for is making a considerable amount of people redundant (20+) and thus has to enter a minimum 30day consulation period with employee representatives selected for each department with written proposals of the company's restructuring plans within that period.

The remaining staff are selected via a criteria selection, based on productivity, disciplinary record etc etc... (varies from department to department)

Now a revised proposal has been given out today which clearly states that part time positions (Which; based on this proposal is being redundant indefinitely) can be included in the selection pool for a full time position. Now being one of the people affected by this (being full time) im not sure this is fair / legal.

Surely the remaining full time position (currently held by 4 people with 3 to be made redundant) the selection should be within those four people? Otherwise it would mean anyone's job regardless of department or position is 'up for grabs, at any time'

However im not that knowledgeable about these subjects and would like to know where I stand on this subject.

Thanks in advance
