Broken HP ColourLaserjet 2840

We have a HP ColourLaserjet 2840 which has stopped working. Have tried to clear jam but can't find anything. Have recently installed new toner cartridges. We can try and buy a new printer which uses similar toner cartridges (seems to be discontinued model). Do we just have to write off unused toner?. Its 4.5 years old. Is it worth getting repaired.?
Any advice welcome.

Every time one of the colour lasers here needs a drum and a couple of toners, it's not economical to repair. So we stick the printer on eBay and make sure it's described correctly, and get a new one. I don't know the model you mention so I don't perceive the price range.
It's terribly wasteful and bad for the environment to just buy a new one, but it's less costly, gives us a new warranty and at least we're recycling the old one by selling it on.0 -
Thanks, droopsnoot. I think we will buy a new printer but its such a waste of toner. 2 of the colours were only purchased a couple of weeks ago and are still full. Printer will not work at all so don't think we could sell on ebay. Do you think anyone will buy used toner cartridges.?
