Cancelling eBay transaction - help with paying

Hi guys, wondered if you could offer some advice...

i recieved my first invoice from ebay.
My Paypal account is currently at zero.

They're charging me 5.27 which includes a listing fee and 'final value fee' of 4.45.
The item was actually unsold, but somebody pressed Buy Now by mistake

I've cancelled the transaction with eBay, and am waiting for a response from the 'buyer'. I've got to wait 7 days and then if he deosn't respond (which i don't think he will do cos he doesn't speak English very well) then I can close the case and get a 'Refund Credit' to my PayPal account.

Until then, do you think I to pay the whole balance off then wait for my refund to come through, or do you think I could leave PayPal with a zero balance, wait for the refund to come through, then just pay the listing fee I actually owe? - in effect having a minus balance first on the PayPal account

PS my Bank Account is NOT linked to PayPal, so I think it'll just put me in minus numbers temporarily if I don't do anything...?

What a farce!

I know its only a fiver, but i'm skint and don't want to have to front the money before I get refunded. Please help

Cheers

Dont worry about it. Wait for the refund and then pay ebay from your paypal account. You may wish to email ebay to let them know the situation but if i was you no way i'm paying ebay out of my own funds.
  • Thanks, Mr Ukranian eventually agreed to cancel the transaction, my invoice was rectified and i paid my actual seller fees off using 'one off payment using paypal'

paypal actually knew my bank details even though the accounts are not actually 'linked'

    thanks for your reply
