The current ones have lasted over 10 years with no issues so I rate them pretty highly but of course they could have been making worse products since mine was bought hence what happended to you.
Yes, clearly you can't say that all Toshiba's a bad just from my experience with them. Friends have also told me that Sony and Panasonic are no longer as good as they used to be so perhaps that's just the way things are for all manufacturers these days!Stompa0 -
Samsung released a HD Ready CRT, 32".
Was around £300 mind, but looked pretty good as they had made it slimline as oppsed to the usual bulkiness associated with CRTs.
Could be worth considering.0 -
£300 way too over budget :x[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

The 50 and 100Hz debate I was under the same impresion untill I got a shop to connect 2 sony tvs up next to each other and play the same dvd on each tv It was bugs life and the 100hz picture was life like I was blown away it was miles better. but the price diference at the time was allso life changing about £800 more so we decided not to go for it. the latest versionof the TV is about £900 less than the one I was looking at.0

Chances are we're going to be watchin more films on the PC rather than the TV and thats just going to be used for.. well.. tv things!
Even so.. if laid on a bed watching the tv from other side of the room do you think the 50hz is still good to watch? Thats all that matters when going for budget![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Hi Merciless killer,
Yes please PM me the details so I can have a look at it. The one I was going to get was a 32" Widescreen Philips for £147 but with a £20 off code and free delivery it worked out at £127 all in. Amazing deal for a 32" really - just wish I'd been quicker as I don't think I'll find better
I thought that HD ready Samsung was £4-500, at £300 I might consider it! Where have you seen it at that price Kilty?
I'm still not sure about the 50Hz v 100Hz debate, I'm sure the old set I have now prob had neither and its still a decent picture so I'd probably be happy with either.
If anyone has any other ideas keep them coming! Thanks.
