PS3 Error message

Hi all...

First of all I know nothing about games or game machines so if you know whats wrong here please keep it simple,

My son has just come and said he is getting an error message while playing on line in modern warfare 2

He is getting this message " your playlist data is older than your hosts. You must restart the game to get the new playlist data"

He has tried restarting the game, has switched off, logged off... about 5 times now and when he tries to connect to certain friends the message keeps coming back.

Any ideas please... im really lost on these things

Are there any updates available for the game?

did a quick google
it could be that others in the match havent got the update
so they need to restart but it tells everyone

So are you saying that he and the friends he is trying to connect with should all check they have updated to the latest version.

As the message is saying "host" that suggested it was them and not him.

Second question... I have just asked him if he needs to update the game and he said that he cant manually update, it will only update auto...is this right???

I know with the 360 version, if there is a new update it will pop up with a message when starting up the game, and if you choose not to install it you are signed out of XBox Live and can't join any games. I would have thought it would be similar in the PS3 version but I couldn't say for sure

yes he has said to me that if there is an update it automatically pops up.

I know he can manually check for new updates on the machine, but not with software... I think

I would expect that the Join Game option will work fine. Its when trying to join friends games that causes a problem. They may need to update their versions too. Something from one day to the next may have happened so it may be sorted out now.

Yes spot on, he has come home today and it is working fine...so far, god he had a face like thunder last night:rotfl:
