Car insurance cancelation fees

I saw some post about cancelation fees but in my situation is something else.
cancelation policy of 65 pounds - ok I can't do much about that as i was aware before.
But paying extra 85 pounds to pay for extras (like windscreen cover, legal cover and personal accident cover) till the end of the insurance period is something which I cant understand as all info I found on their website are as follows:

In the event of cancellation
£25 if cancelled within 14 days of receiving your documents, or the start date of your policy, whichever is later. If you (or we) cancel your policy after the 14 day period, we will keep £65.

Can somebody helped me please as the 150 pounds where allready charged:-(Thanks

Many of the addons you can buy with your insurance do not have a cancellation period as they are not insurances. breakdown for example. So, if you buy these you are committed on those for the year as you bought an annual contract with them.

Many of the addons may not underwritten by the insurer. For example the legal cover could be say DAS and the breakdown europe assist so these policies will be non refundable.

But my question is: If I need to pay for add ons for a whole year is it mean that they are still on and available for me for the rest of the year (for example windscreen cover) if my insurance have been canceled?

Hi, have just been charged a grand total of £232.99 for cancelling, explanation for this amount was that i had been charged for the add ons 2. Gutted after reading this, thought i'd be able to do something about it! They don't explain about this when they sell you the extras, not happy.

In principle yes, although I would check with the individual underwriters of the policy addons in question.

They don't explain about this when they sell you the extras

They probably do provide the paperwork.
But they don't provide someone to read it all to you.
You are expected to read the documentation yourself and are even given a 14 day period to read it.

As it happens I do think it's "mean" and not very "joined-up" but that doesn't make it illegal. Most of these are ousourced, i.e. provided by other companies and not the insurers.
Personally I get my legal cover and breakdown cover seperately. It covers all vehicles in the household, so unlikely to need cancelling.
