I spend under £400 a month on a family of 5 and that includes 2 in nappies and a teen that eats more than the adults!!

I do an online shop once a week of approx £70 and £30 a month through the milkman. I incldue all toiletries & cleaning products and usually 1 or 2 takeaways in the budget.

You should try joining us lot on the grocery challenge too. I dont meal plan though. I could post a typical weekly shop to give you an idea.

how do you manage that? i tried to follow the grocery challenge and thought about joining but dont seem to be able to follow it, it moves to quick for me :rotfl:

would you be able to post a typical meal plan and shopping list please:D

    many thanks, charlotte

i used to spend £200 a month for 2 adults, 1 child and a cat

But the last couple of months I've managed to get it down to £160/£170. At the beginning of the month I buy mostly freezer food and meat thats on offer. The rest of weeks I spend a bit topping up fruit/veg, bread, milk, coldmeat, stuff for packed lunches, juice. Toiletries and cleaning stuff I get from places like Wilkos. Much cheaper than the likes of Mr T!

At the end of the month the freezer and cuboards are pretty bare so I can start again. It's saved me a fair bit, plus we waste a lot less now.

£600-£700 is a huge amount to spend on food for such a small family.
You guys must eat a lot!!

We spend about £40 a week (including cleaning supplies) for two adults. On the weeks Tesco have 5p per litre for £50 offers we stock up on the staples and then spend less the following weeks.

Im gonna say i spend £100 a month for myself,DD 4yrs and two cats.
That includes everything! I usually spend £60-£80 online then pop and grab some milk,fruit/veggies after 2 weeks, just to top up.

This may creep up as DD starts school in sept and will be taking a lunchbox, would love for her to have school lunches but after looking at a sample menu i dont think she'd eat half of what they serve.

Take a look at the 'Old Style' board. They have fantastic advice! Theres always someone around to help and everybodies so friendly.
