We're having Lord of the Dance! Its so upbeat and happy, i love it! Plus everyone will know it too
we're also having 'Give Me Joy In My Heart' (Hosanna one) too and the 3rd one is 'As I Vow to One Another' - I think its one of the rugby tunes but its got such nice words plus everyone will know the themetune, lol0 -
So far we're having it unless we can think of another! I used to love it at school especially when we sang lord of the dance settee, lol. We told the vicar we wanted it and he said it was a bit 'old hat' but since having our banns read, we've seen the sort of songs they usually have and they're nothing like i used to have at school!
We're also thinking of having dear lord and father of mankind, not sure if it's a bit depressing though....... Need to have hymns that a band can play along too and need to get it sorted really soon!!0 -
You can have whatever you want!
I HATE going to weddings with hymns that the couple feel obliged to choose and no one knows so you end up with a kind of mumbling durge captured for posterity on the video!
We got married 26 years ago and we had 'one day at a time' as one of our hymns - it had been in the charts quite recently believe it or not so no one had an excuse!
We also had 'give me oil in my lamp' cos it's a song that is sung at school so people would definately have known it - and they sang!
You choose what you like!0 -
When I was a kid, Lord of the Dance was always sung at funerals
Everyone knows 'Give me joy' so bound to get some singing!
'Morning has broken' is an old fav too!
Maybe even 'Jeruslem'?:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -
We had it at our wedding! DH's absolute favourite, I never even thought about it not being weddingy. I wanted something everyone could sing loudly along too, nothing worse than songs nobody knows the words and tune to and you have to sing loudly with everyone else listening to avoid uncomfortable silences!!0
