Hi there,
I've been planting out new stuff at the weekend, and I've had a pot of oregano out on patio which did really well (planted new from seed) last summer. Sadly due to lack of space, I couldn't bring it indoors for the winter, so it's had a bit of a battering. The compost around it had a layer of moss on it, but the oregano had a good root system and there were some tiny new leaves coming back. So I got rid of the moss and replanted a clump of the oregano in to a new pot of fresh compost.
Did I do the right thing, or should I start again with new seeds this year?
Thanks :-)

It seems to be quite a hardy herb. My oregano bush is planted out in a border and was under snow and ice during December & January with sub zero temperatures but already I can spot new leaves starting to shoot up from the base. I'm sure your plant will soon start looking healthy again now that the weather is warming up. If it gets too large, it will pay for splitting up. Don't be too gentle with it. Just dig a spade through the middle of it and split it into two. As long as each clump has a good root system, they will continue to thrive.0

Hi, thanks for the reassuring words!
Since Sunday I've checked it a couple of times, and it seems to be doing well in the new (bigger pot)...new leaves coming up!
