flea & tick treatment

I've been using Frontline and more recently Prac-tic for monthly flea & tick treatment. A professional groomer however mentioned that she uses Hyperdrug's 'Veterinary Flea & Tick Drops' as they're much cheaper and 'just as good'.
My dogs are keen swimmers, and apparently Frontline isn't ideal as it washes out, and Prac-tic is a lot more expensive (and prescription only) than Hyperdrug's version.
However, looking at the ingredients Hyperdrug contains Permethrin, which appears to be the same ingredient as Bob Martin - which I've read on these forums isn't really worth the money.
Any thoughts?

I don't know about those brands but FWIW I would never, ever use Bob Martin products on my animals again; I've heard too many stories about it harming cats. I was lucky in that mine just got fleas that Bob Martin didn't kill or stop, but I know many owners claim that this product poisoned their animals.
I used Frontline on my dogs who were always in out pond and in the sea and never had a problem - the odd tick (we lived in the countryside) that I needed to remove but no fleas.
I now get the Programme injection for the cats but I don't think there's a dog version.Bellymonkey due 25/09/10 :j0 -
I should have mentioned that I'm treating dogs - and I don't have cats.0
