Warning About Freebies Which Cost Money

I have been using MSE for months now,:T and only recently I joined as a MSEr, I am now on the ranking of Notsonewbie:T (Doesn't sound nice) but I have had a shock.

My parents complain that some freebies concerning typing phone numbers result in a lot of charges:mad: , my parents say that when I keyed in the numbers for free sims like Vodafone and Orange it costs a reverse charge I think:confused:   . I'm only in my teens thus I cannot tell what these companies do.

Next time you look up a freebie, try not to key in too much details, if they aren't mandatory, don't key them in, if they are, try to use second emails or old mobile numbers or even reserve a free sim for keying in numbers.

If somebody is prepared to give me something for nothing the least I can do is be honest with them.
    Can I help?
  • I tend to avoid any offer which requires me to provide a phone number.

I read your post and that makes me feel sort of sad. I think it's nice that teens are using this site. It's a family site with no rubbish on it. Plus, it will help you when you become an adult with your finances and saving money. I think it's also nice that you are doing something positive and productive with your time. There's so many teens out there nowadays that are wasting their lives away doing things that aren't good for them. However, I would never advise a teenager to go against what their mum and dad says. Perhaps you can talk to them about the site and encourage them to use it too? They might enjoy the site just as much as you do. :D

I am also a teen, and I always put in a number that has just the last number changed, so instead of 079*******1 I put in 079*******2
