I am about to ask HSBC to reduce the rate on my card, the balance is maxed out. Barclay card have already offer to take this balance transfer, but I my barclay card only has a couple of hundred pounds on it which I will pay off next month and intend to close the card to try to improve my credit rating.

am I doing the right thing, the current balance on my HSBC card is 6k, the balance on my barclay card is £200-ish.

one good reason for not going with barclay card is that they have screwed me around a few times like not setting up a direct debit when I opened the account, then on my first request failed to do so again, third time lucky. also not real benefits.

should I just splash out on a financial advisor?

well i wouldnt bother with a financial advisor - just give them a call if thats what you want to do - they can only say no.

If barclaycard canoffer you a cheaper rate then tho you may not like them id go with them to save money.

can you not appply for a new 0% deal?
