What are the costs of relocating?

My OH has been offered a job that is in an area too far to commute to so we are trying to calculate how much it would cost us to relocate. We were first time buyers so have never moved from our own home.
We would need to budget in the initial cost of lodging too (since I'd need to find a permenant position up there and he would need to make sure it's the right move for him) before we make the final decision - but what else do I need to consider?
EA fees?
Solicitor fees?
Removals fees?
What are these likely to be (roughly)?
The fact is that although he really wants the job we're both worried that even with the extra money (although not as much as he wanted) that the move will increase our debt.

we didnt find relocation any more expensive than moving locally - the removal fees were cheaper as we found a better firm local to our new house
luckily my OH had somewhere free to stay whilst I stayed put at the old house and sold it, and then madly rushed around looking for a new house, which we moved into the same day as we moved out of the old one
our other option was to rent a new place locally until we found somewhere to move, but this was a more expensive option as there would either be two sets of removal costs or storage costs which were as much as moving twice
good luck - we havent looked back since doing itSee the stars they’re shining brightEverything’s alright tonight0 -

To give you an accurate breakdown I would need more details, roughly how much your house is worth as most agents work on a percentage fee, what area you are in, are you selling and then purchasing straightaway, if so, what price are you buying at (to work out what stamp duty you would need to pay etc).
If you post this info I will be able to give you a fairly accurate idea of costs, the only one that is difficult is removal costs because IME they vary greatly from one company to another. My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say

OK. I live in Cheshire and the house we live in (at a guess) is worth about £165,000.
As long as the new job and job search go well we would aim to move out and then into the new straightaway. The new area (from searches online and land registry web site) looks a little dearer  and we would probably be buying at the £200K mark.0 -
Can your OH ask for relocation assistance? My firm gave me a grand (taxed) to move from Cardiff to London. BUT, they wouldn't have given me it unless I'd asked0

Ok for EA's fees expect to pay around 1 to 1.5% of the sale price (negotiate with your chosen agent as they often quote a higher fee to begin with)
so budget for £2475 plus vat = £2908.12
Solicitors fees for selling approx £800 and for purchasing approx £1000 plus if you are buying at 200k stamp duty at 1% of purchase price £2000
So expect to pay around £6708 in fees (obviously this is very approximate and will depend on getting quotes from local EA's and solicitors)
You also have to think about any mortgage related costs, removal costs etc.

Don't know the distance of your move, but in relation to removal costs we paid 1950 for a 250 mile relocation  this was with a very well known removal firm (the only ones who were available on the days) they did ALL packing and unpacking as hubby had already gone on ahead. It was a 2 day event and all went well.
The other costs of moving will be the same as if you're staying in the same town, good luck with the job

Agree with the rough fee costs above- we've just moved from Yorkshire to Wales...
Shop around for removal companies- we had quotes from 475-1500 (all inc VAT).. We paid £500 and the company were polite and efficient.

Thanks for all that advice.
