help claiming jsa ?????

hi wondered if you can help me . if i leave my job on the grounds of child care problems can i claim jsa? or income support ?
i only work 16 hours but they will not set my hours so they change week to week i get my rota on a sat for the monday.
some weeks i do 3 days others i do 5 days just a few hours a week.
it is getting really difficult.
i have asked my manager and my area manager and both will not fix my hours so cannot get a nursery/childminder place.
i am a 37 yr old female with a 18 month old daughter.
any advice will be greatly apprieciated.
mu husband is at work all day.

    No you wont be able to claim income support as your not a single parent.
    You could claim JSA if you have enough NI contributions, but there may be a sanction of up to 26 weeks if they feel your reason for leaving wasnt good enough.
  • i have been working for 6 years 4 of them full time. is there no way i can find out if they would sanction me or not before i take the plunge and hand in my notice.

    No its up to the desision maker who will look at your reasons for leaving work.
    Could you not stay with this job for now while looking for another?
  • i am trying to but running out of options with child care. sometimes nursery has a spare place sometimes my mum has her but she is going away for 3 months very soon which will leave us very stuck .
