Hi,
I was going through some boxes and found the old Hard Drive i put in my Sky+ box when it first came out. As i have a PVR3 i did'nt bother adding this drive.
Now what do i need to do to add this to my Pc? And is it hard to do?
I have a Dell Pc and running Xp S2.
The Drive is Samsung SP1604N
But it still has my old Sky+ data on it i think so that would need to be cleaned off, also there are no parts with it so what would i need to buy to get this up and running?
Would it be better to buy an external HDD case, but really i would prefere it inside my Pc as already have a Ex HDD for my music.
Any advice would really be appricated.
Thanks

All you will need to do is (if you only have one HDD) set the jumper to Slave and put it on the second IDE connector on the cable your current hard drive is plugged into. (and plug a spare power connector in)
Windows will recognise it, you can format it from within Windows, job done.0 -
Thanks Kitty, opened my pc and i only have one bay for my HDD but in the manual its says two. Do i need to buy a bay for it? And where would i get one?
Dell 30000 -
you cant buy 3.5" drive bays as such what you can buy are plates that fit to an existing drive bay screw through it to hold your existing drive in place then use it below to attach your new drive like these or these an alternative that I have used in the past is similar to this stuff cut 4 peices screw through holes at the top in to your existing drive then screw through lower holes in to your new drive and it works, make extra bay by using a longer strip of the stuff.
another thing that could cause you problems is the drive is 160GB and the controler in the 3000 is ATA 100 which normally only support up to 137GB0 -
Thanks, is there anywhere that would sell then in the uk?
Just seen the same guy sells them for the uk too.
Is the one from Screwfix easy to do?0
