Npower has overcharged me!!! HELP

Options
I'll try to be quick! Had a pre-payment meter with Npower for the last five years, changed it to a credit meter, was told that for no reason my old meter was a dual rate meter, which I did'nt ask for or need! So I sent a formal complaint about 7 weeks ago asking for a refund for the amount I was overcharged for the last five years (I use nearly all my electric during the day so the dual rate was not beneficial). They came back to me last week offering £89 refund, I said it was a joke and how had they worked it out! I reckon they had used an estimated bill from my new meter, which is totally unfair because electricity prices have risen alot in the last five years, now when I ring them the case handler is ill/gone home early/day off. etc. Have given them till friday to sort it out or I have threatened to take my complaint to Ofgem. What else can I do??? They just are not listening or trying to resolve things!!!! HELP!!!!

Hi Susie 1981 - From post it seems that your old meter was Dual rate, which is usually fitted for dwellings with ECO 7 heating - Where there is a dwelling with heating other than ECO 7 being charged on a 2 Rate ECO 7 meter, it's usually because the present or a previous occupant has upgraded the heating to Gas, but not told the Electicity supplier and not surprisingly that's not the suppliers fault

However, the fact that n'power have made an offer of £89 says something other than the above has happened and n'power have a problem
If you don't have your bills for the 2 rate meter period, ask n'power for them They have to supply them
Your BIG problem is getting hold of n'powers Standard Meter tariffs over the last 5 years so that you can work out the overcharge for yourself - I suggest you write to the Ombudsman at this time, enclosing a copy of n'powers offer letter and asking him to get these historic tariffs for you - It's not likely that he will, but you do stand a chance of him ordering n'power to give them to you
    Good Luck
