Social housing tenancies (assured tenancies) tend to be extremely secure and can be held for a lifetime even if a person's financial circumstances changes, though sometimes a tenant has a probationary tenancy for a short period of time before getting a fully assured one. What type of tenancy do you have?
Do you mean you are worried that the local council will identify you have extra income and it will affect means tested benefits, like HB/Local housing allowance?0 -

no i read on the internet that a couple was told that they could afford to rent private as they wanted to be upgraded to a bigger property due to having a baby so was refused the council property even though they was originally a tennant.
I wont have extra income i just dont want a big lump of money appearing in my account and the council thinking its mine cos it isnt0 -
That is news to me - link to the article, please. Some tenants fail to succeed in their social housing tenancies when their relative or partner who is actually on the tenancy dies or move out, for various reasons.
Are you sure they didn't just move out of their own volition from getting the hump that the council could not accommodate them with a larger property?
A council tenant with a secure tenancy who is not convicted of anti-social behaviour and is not in substantial rent arrears is virtually impossible to evict. Not everyone who has additional children qualifies for a larger property and those who do, can't always get them if there is a shortage of available social housing.0 -
I'd be more worried about being investigated by my bank for money laundering.0

Anything more than 10k flags up on the system.0

A local authority can consider finances in relation to an allocation of accommodation. It's not statutory and differs from local authority to local authority. There's almost no case law or guidance and is a reviewable decision, but I've never seen an applicant win a case. Good rule of thumb is a take-home of LHA + 60% as a cut off point, but this varies depending on local circumstance.
There is no enshrined right of transfer, excepting mutual exchange, so even an existing tenant could be refused a transfer based on finance.0
