Tax office got knickers in a twist

I get income from different sources, annuities etc. I also got married 8 years ago and DH and I are - just - in the age-group entitled to married people's tax allowance, which we split between us to set against our separate incomes.
Yesterday, got new notice of coding from 4 different tax offices and all of them had managed to get my name wrong i.e. my pre-married name and therefore, no mention of married people's allowance! It was as though my 8-year marriage was somehow obliterated even though all the paperwork I've had in the last 8 years has acknowledged the fact that I'm married and use a different name.
I phoned, and was told they had no record of the name I am now, nor of DH and the married allowance. However, I gave them all details and was told it would be put right.
I hope they will realise that I should also have an increased tax allowance because I'm going to be 75 in this tax year.
Just as well I'm not one of those people who doesn't read anything official-looking, and I know that those people do exist! What a cheek - putting me back to pre-marriage name and status. They've got their knickers in a twist somehow.

It is a well-known fact that the tax office is issuing multiple incorrect tax coding notices on a grand scale - to the extent that our payroll people have advised us to let them know whether we are aware of any changes which might have triggered a tax change, rather than just believing them!
But as you say, need to read, mark, learn and inwardly digest before accepting that they're right!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I think this could be a good year for 'odd' tax codes . One of our employees has been told he isnt entitled tax relief as they believe he will be earning over £120k this year ( makes mental note to check petty cash tin lol ) and another is being taxed on all his sources of income ( again no tax relief )Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0
