Item not received, any advice please

Hi, I bought an item from ebay and paid straight away (paypal). Two weeks later I have not rec'd it and contacted the seller. They gave me a RM tracking no. and it says on the RM site "being processed". Another week later still no item, contacted seller again and she says that she has contacted RM and they said that it has been signed for 2 days after posting. But I have not signed or received it. I have tried to phone RM but cannot get through to speak to anyone. Could someone please advise me on the best way to proceed with this? Many thanks

Have you rechecked the online tracking, what does it say?

  • Hi, it is still saying 'being processed through our network'. The seller has said that RM says they have a signature for it and they are going to email it to her and she has asked for my personal email address to forward it onto me so that I can persue a claim from RM. Is this the normal procedure for something like this? Many thanks, again.

Any good seller will refund you and then take the claim up with Royal Mail. If you feel she's stringing you along then start a claim with paypal. If Paypal cant track it online and see that its been delivered you will get your money back.

Unfortunately recorded is notoriously unreliable and it is quite likely that your seller is being told they have delivered the item, but you don'ty have it. However for a paypal claim it is the seller that loses out as she needs it to track online to you to defend a claim.

Explain to her that you are very sorry but you can assure her you have not received the goods and then put in a paypal chargeback.

Then just for your own peace of mind double check that no one in your home or your neighbours has signed for it!

  • Thankyou for your help. Is there anyway of seeing/finding out who has signed it without sending her my private email? I am the only one at home during the day so I know nobody here has signed it but will check with neighbours just to be sure. Once again, many thanks.

As you have the tracking number you could phone RM and explain you are the recipeint and can you also have a copy of the signature, it might be posisble.

  • I just spoken to RM and they are going to send me a copy. Thanks for all your help.:)
  • Hi, I have rec'd a copy of the POD signature from RM, it is not my signature on it and it looks as if half of it is missing. I have also checked with my neighbours to make sure that they haven't signed for anything for me (they haven't). The RM website is still showing as 'processing'. If I open a dispute for Item not rec'd, will it be classed as received as they have a signature for it? many thanks

Was there a printed name next to the signature?

  • Hi, no there is no printed name and the bottom half of the signature is missing and you cannot make out any kind of name. Its more like a scribble than anything else iykwim.
