Halifax "simple" overdraft charges

Just a tip to get £35 back from Halifax.

Halifax "simplified" their overdraft charges at end of 2009. This meant that as I was overdrawn for approx 20 days per month (up to approx £400), I was charged £1 per day (£20 PER MONTH). My previous overdraft charges were approx £3 - £5 per month.

I was advised by a member of staff (on the QT) that you can ask to be refunded the first £35 of charges under the new "simple" overdraft rules. I telephoned Halifax and after only a couple of minutes was refunded £35. They only asked where I had heard of this.

Although this doesn't cover all the charges since the new rules came in at least it is something. I have now changed bank accounts to an interest only overdraft with no "simple" charges.
