I don't understand the 'about us' section.Diversity Works for London is a Mayoral programme that encourages and supports businesses to realise the benefits of London’s diversity. By providing a comprehensive suite of tailored business support products the programme enables companies to improve their diversity proficiency.
By doing so, our clients are able to:
Make the most of procurement opportunities
Look at ways to mitigate risk
Develop methods to increase talent pools
So what do you they actually do? It's just a bunch of words that don't mean an awful lot.0 -

Make small businesses fill out equality and antidiscriminatory policy documents, advertise using language that is not discriminatory, and interview anyone who might sue the small business in an employment tribuneral. After carefully ticking all the boxes, the small business will still hire who the d&mn well want. But at least it won't be discriminatory, because the ethnic minority who isn't hired will be assured all dots were crossed.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Here's what's scary.
This organisation is actually important to businesses because it helps them jump through hoops they have to jump through by law.
This organisation doesn't create those hoops however. Government does.
So whilst the organisation is a waste of money, it is not the organisation's fault per se.
Your angst should be against the policymakers. What are you going to do about that?0 -

I hate them all. i have some family that work in that twilight area of private sector, bu the client is the govt. what thety actually do is beyond me, in terms that they have explained a thousand times, yet to me, they do nothing. their job is not needed at all.
Govt should not be allowed to use private sector companies if 50% or more of their income is derived from the public sector. they rip off the Govt more than anyone - and this includes contractors. a friend of mine has been at the MoJ doing "computer stuff" on the best part of 1000 a day for years. There is no way they would hire anyone on this salary. If they actually had to hire someone they might find out the role isn't even needed!!!0 -
Couldn't agree more. Sack the lot of them, put someone with some proper commercial sense in charge and you'd probably find you could run local government on about 25% of what it costs us and still make a profit.
The amount of waste, bureaucracy, people doing nothing and subbing their work out to private companies at massive fees makes me sick.
Then they have the bοllocks to complain about the pitiful savings the government want to make...0 -
Quite agree. Son of a friend has been on a computer contract to Govt. Dept. in Newcastle for over 10 years on a massive fee. He could retire next week if he wanted.
N.Never be afraid to take a profit.
Keep breathing.
Just because I am surrounded by FOOLS does not make me wise. :j0 -
