Anyone use grow pots for growbags?

Does anyone use these for Toms and Cucumber etc?

I mean the ones with the ridge around so you can fill it up with water and it drip feeds.

Are they worth the money? Cheapest place I have found is £4 each if I buy 6 of them.

I found my toms last year dried out in the greenhouse really quickly so thought these grow pots might mean less watering.

Also if anyone knows of a cheaper supplier please tell me.

As my OH keeps saying this growing our own is costing us a fortune :rotfl:

Hi there. I just use ordinary big (8 or 10 inch) pots and cut off the bottom. Cut holes the same size as the pot in the growbag and push them in an inch or two. Then fill with multi-purpose compost (or use compost from another growbag). Leave an inch or two at the top for watering. I also use the deep growbags rather than the cheapest thin ones.

Still need to water every day but works really well for me.

I did a trial last year - one bag I did normally (cut a x and plant straight in), and one bag I used the same method as above.
In both bags, I popped a small pot beside each plant, and filled these with water when required (I do this each year) as it gets the water/feed to the roots of each plant.
I found no difference in quality, or yield of crop. Although having the extra roots in the method above made them sturdier plants.
