Ipod accessories query

Was looking at an Ipod dock and USB power adaptor in a shop to go with my 30gb Ipod video. These were old stock that don't mention the video ipod (because they predate it) but say they work with ipods up to the previous version and any with a click wheel. Assistant said they wouldn't be compatible with my ipod but I'm not sure. Can anyone advise?
From browsing an ipod forum I get the impression they'll both work but the dock won't be a perfect fit because it won't be compatible with the dock adaptor with the video ipod. I'm thinking of swerving the dock but getting the charger. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated!
