Best mobile device for calls/texts and Internet ??

Options
Hi,

Can anyone recommend the best 'all in one' mobile device for calls/texts/surfing ?

I found this HTC TyTN Pocket PC Phone and it looks quite groovy:

I currently have a Vodaphone laptop card at £25. per month but I hardly ever carry the laptop so I'm wasting money really. I really love the idea of a mobile that does it all. The unit I mention above even has a qwerty keyboard which is important to me - I don't like the touch screen typing models.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Chris

    Beth..
The laptop cards go in the PCMCIA socket on the side of the laptop. There should be blanking plates in them to stop dust getting in, they're about 2inches wide and about 5 inches thick

That HTC comes branded as quite a few different models, which HTC make for people like Qtec, Vodafone, O2 etc...

I've finally got an Ipaq 6915 after ordering it last February. It's not 3G, but has GPRS and wi-fi for internet access. It supports push email (so your emails automatically get sent to the handheld without you needing to log on to retrieve them).
It includes Tom Tom Navigator and has a built in GPS radio (which works very well) and runs on Windows Mobile 5 so you can install your own preferred MP3 player software, 3rd party applications etc..
Having had multiple fiddly Ipaqs before, this so far is very impressive and seems rock solid on software.
Palm and Fujitsu are bringing out nearly identical spec models soon, but because they pack in a lot more than any smartphone could, they're all quite a bit bigger and each has it's own pro's and cons.

Ive been using htc (orange branded) devices for a few years and they are brilliant. the new EDGE technology should make the internet even better curently gprs is slow but useable especailly browing this site while walking round tesco looking for misprices.

What problem do you have with screen text entry? I'm yet to get my hands on one of the new keyboard versions but I did try the one with the keyboard comming out of the bottom and it was too small and pretty much unuseable maybe these will be useable.

The older ones have 4 text entry methods on screen keyboard, tap the letters. writing recongition it translates when you write on the screen in boxes at the bottom. transcriber what ever you write it translates it to text a bit un reliable but its ok. block recogniser similar to the transcriber but reconises 1 letter/character at a time. phone keypad same as typing text messages on a mobile more of a gimik than useable.

All the other features of windows mobile are excelent and I wouldnt like to go back to a standard mobile phone now.

Thanks Little John - do any of the new devices have the EDGE technology or is that not an end user option ?

What does everyone think of the 02 XDA's ?
