It depends on how much your LHA rate is also. Have you tried putting your details onto entitledto? Try that and at the end after you get the figures for ctc and wtc etc theres the option to find out if you are eligable for help with rent!
  • Karen whats LHA ?
Sorry new to this i did the entitledto they said we were entitled for full rent and council tax just reasking see if anyone knew for sure x

LHA is what is replacing housing benefit. They take the average rental rate for the area and thats the maximum they will pay for the house type you are entitled to. So for your family its the 2 bedroom rate. So say for example your LHA rate is £100 per week, thats the maximum they will pay if you are entitled to full help. But if your rent is £120 per week you will have to pay the £20 excess yourself. Does that make sence?

That site there helps you find what the maximum is they will pay x

We have a three bed roomed house as Thomas is disabled therefore needed his own room for his commode and other 'special needs' things he now has the hospital got us the house, so will they take that in to account do you know .and thanks Karen x

is this a private rent...if it is then LHA applies, if it isn't then it doesn't

Im unsure, I think you will have to write a letter in explaining and also maybe a supporting letter by your doctor or a specialist who deals with your son that explains why he needs his own room. Then they will make a decision if they think it is allowable. As each case will be different. Then if they say its ok you will be entitled to the 3 bedroom rate.

Oh Im unsure if those rules still apply for housing association. Hold off with what I said about the LHA rates etc untill someone can confirm if its the same with a HA house!
  • The doctor knows as he did a report for Thomas a few weeks ago, he sleeps around two hours a night so it would be impossible for both twins to share a room

I've put the info through entitledto as best I can and it says you would get around £13 per week towards rent and nothing for council tax (but used low rate DLA which maybe is not giving the correct result)
