Just wondering when is the stamp duty paid for a new build? Is it after the completion and when you have the keys to your home?0

Dont worry... You will end up paying for it in VAT and income tax anyway....0

It would be interesting to know how a FTB is classed. If you sold six years ago, rented and are now lookinf to get back on the ladder, would you be classed as a FTB?0

Just completed on our new house yesterday as well and then heard about this earlier this morning!

what time is the announcement expected0

The budget starts 12:30, normally lasts at least an hour, so some time round lunchtime.0

Shows how much i watch the news! Is the budget today? If so, i think last time he stopped stamp duty with immediate effect, which is good as i havent exchanged yet.
Just a question though:
When is stamp duty calculated? is it on exchange or on completion? only, i am very close to exchange and would hate to do so and lose out if waiting an extra day/week will save 1% for me.
That will pay for the sofa that my wife has already mentally bought (she has mentally spend £10 grand easily so far on the new house, wait till she see the difference between her imaginary bank balance and the real one!)
