Help - How can a large family go abroad for resonable prices - Any1 got experience??

I have been trying to book a holiday to Gran Canaria (October), for me, my husband and 5 children and can't get any cheaper than £4553. Seems extremely high.
The other problem we have is apartments only sleep 6 so it means booking 2 and me and my husband sleeping in different apartments - not the best holiday:mad:
Kids are all under 13, so still need a parent there :eek:

Does anyone else have any experience on this and could advise?

I've just done a quick search and on a lot of sites you cant even search with 5 children! Poor you
Try searching 8 person villa Gran Canaria and there are options available. 4th option down on your search will see prices per night from £9 but I didnt do a totla cost
Try owners direct as well, that may work out cheaper for you (cant post links as yet cos I am a newbie)

We have stayed in a Keycamp tent and pitched our own tent on the site next to the main tent which one of our children slept in. There was no problem with this as far as Keycamp were concerned. If you talked to Keycamp or one of the other similar companies they may allow you to 'overbook' the tent and then put the two oldest in a tent of their own?

Travel republic have apartment for 250 and a villa for 1100. Flights you can search on skyscanner. It helps if you go against the tide. We are in Scotland so we fly from Liverpool or Manchester when the english are still at school and you can do the opposite.

For large families it is usually easier to hire a people carrier than book transfers.

I book for a number of large families (my cousins) and always use this method. 4533 seems far too much to me. I think I paid this for 11 to go to florida.

Flights-There are flights from E midlands mid october for 7 for around 1000/1100 mark.

If you want an even cheaper holiday you can get really reasonable flights to reus or Girona and get some good all incl hotels through travel republic for a good price. My auntie prefers this to self catering as she says she ends up paying much less in drinks and icecream and snacks.

Why not try booking with apartment / villa owners direct. Try:-

www.holidaylettings.co.uk or
www.ownersdirect.co.uk

You can search by number of rooms on owners direct and it goes up to 10+ of number of persons on holidaylettings (to 15+)
