really pee'd off with pug 307

Hey guys. this is more of a vent/warning than anything but it does belong here i think!

car details pug 307 1.6 16V PETROL 2002 GLX 110BHP.
THE ODD BALL ENGINE all mechanics will know this engine as it has the stupid flat top ignition coil pack with they grey plug that sat on the right hand side of it!

like this one but the grey plug is a larger type!

anyway over the last couple of months been smelling burning smells that go away after a few mins, today i traveled to schoold dropped kids off went to my mums parked car up! after a few hours picked up nephew from nursery at same school as my daughters dropped him with his mum and drove back to my mums, on route forgo to call in garage so went to local garage on way back smelt that burning smell (wasnt clutch smelt electrical/plasticy) sat at set of lights pulled off entered mums street not far from lights cars EML came on with display on dash saying engine oil pressure fault the cars engine went powerless and wouldent let me select gears the smoke started to fill the inside of the car and belowed from the bonnet!! bumper and wheels and out the exhaust! luckely mum lives not far up the street from when it started doing this so parked outside the house jumped out left window open! turned off engine went into mums and called her that car was i suspected on fire! mum run to window and it was still smoking from bonnet but not as bad as it was! so waited for a min (just to see if wind etc was masking the smoke, it wasnt) and smoke stopped! no flames visable so i decided to chance it and open bonnet!

i opened the bonnet to find the fire/sound proofing that covers the rear engine bay, one section that hides the access to the pollen filter had come away and trapped itself under the aux belt and outer crank pully on the bottom of the engine affecting rotation speed of the pully, the pully is now slighlty buckled! the clutch also was ridden ( 3rd gear up steep hill at 5MPH) as i wasnt able to change down gears due to the cars lack of oil pressure/power.

i just hope no lasting damage was done crank wise only time will tell if it starts knocking! and clutch feels higher than normal with a slight whine from the gearbox! ( the gearbox went before and same noise but allot quieter) i know 307's suffer with gearbox bareings and is costly to get repaired/recon'd. spent too much on the car now so probably will get rid.

people inspect the condition of these sound/fire proofing padding as they are quite hevy and the plastic clips will fall out with the weight of the padding!
cant drive the car now as it stinks of smoke!!! cleaned out pollen filter but its black as the ace of spades and also stinks!

Hope it survived ok, but had to laugh a bit when you told your mum your car was on fire and she came to the window to watch.
