What date does this stamp duty change kick in from? We are first time buyers and we complete on 22 April 2010.0

Wrong. My attitute is we have a hole in the deficit the size of the bismark, and if house prices werent so extreme, people wouldnt have problems getting on the ladder in the first place.
You are getting sold a kipper and are too stupid to realise this will get taken from you in increased VAT, income tax or other means. Thats if the banks dont increase FTB mortgage arrangement fees to compensate for the increased profit margin the chancellor has just given them the opportunity to take.
I didnt get 100K saved in the bank off a 50K salary by frittering my money away sonny jim.0 -
It applies from midnight tonight.0

The average salary in the Uk is around £25000, and that means many people get a lot less.
With £50K coming in (or if you are mathematically illiterate £50,000 (which is less) you are very well off indeed by most people's standards and can afford to be dismissive of a "mere 1%".Under no circumstances may any part of my postings be used, quoted, repeated, transferred or published by any third party in ANY medium outside of this website without express written permission. I am very pleased for you all! Honest! It is great news and I guess I just have to keep thinking that if we had waited until now to buy then the price of our house would have gone up, etc etc.
I will just have to concentrate on saving so I can make the most of that increased ISA allowance... drinking less cider will help with that as I'll save the 10% higher duty... and keep my fingers crossed that myself & my DH aren't among the civil servants moved outside london... Or maybe I should keep them crossed that we are? Then I can buy a cheaper house!0 -
Hi, we've noticed that you don't have a signature to remove. If you're not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you are feeling left out.0

Why would you think not - unless we're talking about bytes?
Exactly £50K = £51,200. And we are talking pounds. It's an error often made.Under no circumstances may any part of my postings be used, quoted, repeated, transferred or published by any third party in ANY medium outside of this website without express written permission. Thank you.0
