who else thinks it's all far too complicated?

Honestly it's taking me ages trying to figure out what to do, whether to stay with npower or switch to another supplier. We're only staying in our flat until September to dont want anything with early termination fees.
There's too many bloody tariffs as well it's crazy. And I dont find the comparison websites easy to use.

Once you have your annual consumption figures worked out, most of the comparison sites take just a few clicks to complete.
What aspect are you finding difficult to use?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Wouldn`t it be a dream if we could just have a straightforward list of a single tariff from each company side by side. Down as they reduce prices and up as they increase. It isn`t hard to use a comparison site but hey why do we have to? Ebico does it so it isn`t beyond the reach of all energy companies but they do like to squeeze the highest amount of profit from each one of us.0

British Gas Websaver 6 is relatively cheap and its cancellation fees only apply to August 2010 so might be the right fit for you.0

Yes I agree. Utilities should be required to fix their tariffs for a year then renew them at the same time so we can compare them. I also think there should be just one simple fixed tariff not a standing charge, although there is an environmental case for increasing the charge as you use more rather than decreasing it.0 -

What is it you find hard with the comparison sites? If you enter your Kwh they will tell you who is the cheapest. Its really not that difficult.
Dont worry about early termination fee either as they dont apply if you move home because you cant take the supplier with you.
The thing you should avoid is any supplier that gives the end of year discounts (as far as I'm aware its only Npower and First Utility that apply their discounts after 12 months) as if you move you will lose out on the discounts.
Seriously, if you find comparison sites hard to use then maybe you should try using a different site.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Have to say i completly agree with you. It's not that i find the comparison sites difficult, it's just deciding which company to trust and switch too. You hear so many different stories, good and bad, about them all, i dont want to switch and then my direct debit change from month to month.
We are currently with EDF and live in a larcge 2 bed flat
pay £22.00 per month gas and
£34 electric which is ok but if we can get a cheaper DD that would be great but just dont know who to switch too...
any suggestions????LBM 25TH FEB 2010 £25k25th Jan2011 £22kTARGET 1=capital one - £200PAID
Target 2=ARGOS0 -
switch over to British gas web saver it may reduce your money but think before getting in because cheaper companies doesn't possess good service

The reason standing charges and bands exist is to recover fixed costs applicable to east customer, ie. costs that don’t change in relation to consumption. Without this method of charging it would be impossible to offer any kind of cost reflectivity in prices.0 -
Yesterday I received an e mail from the UK Power comparison site. It looks like they've now included all the new and forthcoming price reductions for each tariff, so if you compare on there you get an up to date list of prices against your own particular tariff. Personally, I find that site easier to use.0
