Any optometrists/Vision experts about?!

Because I had one free eye test and a half-price test I have ended up with two prescriptions from two different shops and they are different!?

One is sph -1 cyl -.5 Axis 110 and sph -1.25 cyl -.5 axis 85

The other is sph -.75 cyl -.5 axis x90 and sph -1 cyl -.75 axis x90

    I am not an optometrist but I don't think it is an exact science! The Optometrist is relying on your reliability in giving him/her feedback

    No, I am not saying you are unreliable! I am saying that the precision of the test is probably no better than plus/minus 0.125 dioptres, hence the reason that the minimum dioptre step is 0.25. Sometimes you will be measured at -0.75, other times it will be -1.0! When doing the test, your eye, my eye, or anybody else's eye is simply not discerning enough!

    You may find a better answer on the health thread.
