Right clicking all the time ! Help !

Options
Don't know if I'm the only one in the world that does this, but whilst holding the mouse, the finger next to the little finger that is over the right hand button regularly involuntarily moves or twitches or whatever and clicks the button.
I know you only have to left click to get rid of it off the screen, but I really annoy myself by doing it continually.
Apart from chopping my finger off or jamming something under the right hand button, is there a way of temporarily disabling it and restoring it quickly so that my "Trigger" finger will twitch in vain !!
Does anyone else ever have this problem or am I alone with this one ?
Thanks

You could swap the left and right buttons over so that your second finger would then normally be positioned over thin air. Control Panel, Mouse, Buttons, Switch Primary and secondary buttons.

Trouble with that is that my middle finger hovers over the scroll wheel which I always use.
    Thanks

I don't think there's even anything in the Accessibility function in Control Panel that would help.

If you're willing to experiment for yourself and to download Microsoft Intellipoint for whatever mouse you have, there MAY be something in there which could disable the RH mouse button. I say MAY because I haven't tried it, but there is more flexibility in those drivers than in the native XP mouse drivers...

    Good luck!

After reading this I tried to hold the mouse the way you said you do and have the same trouble :)

Why not try to use your index finger for the right button and the one next to it (closest to thumb) for the left, and using one of those for the wheel as well?

    Works for me...

I thought your index finger was the one next to your thumb.
I use my index finger for the left button, my middle finger for the scroll wheel and my third finger ( Next to my little finger ). I thought this is the way most people use a mouse !

I use my index finger for the left button and the scroll wheel. The second finger just doesn't feel right for me on the scroll wheel.

Try holding the mouse edges with your thumb one side and little finger and the next finger on the other.Middle finger on the right hand button and pointer(index) finger on the scroll wheel. Then just move your index finger over to left click.
