Extend telephone cable

Hi all,

Connecting a telephone extension lead directly into a second bt socket in the living room so its neat (not sticking out of socket hole).

The problem I have got is that the wire is not long enough and its impossible to extend (its behind skirt which has just been fitted and plaster).

My dad said he will solder some new wire onto it - is this okay?

Also any ideas what wires need to connect directly from the extension wire into the back of the socket?

Cheers

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
