visa widely accepted in Iceland?

OH and son are off to Iceland next month and wasn's sure what to arrange for their travel money. usually when any of us travel we take a bit in the local currency and rely on visa or cash point machines and a debit card to stock up if we need more, is this going to be practical in reykjavik?
They are only going for 4 days and most of that will be organised but they have to buy their own food which is going to cost a fair bit.
Any advice would be welcome, thank you.

Yes, Iceland is known for taking credit cards almost anywhere, for even low amounts of money. What you said is entirely practical.0
