Finding info about neighbours

Hi all im not sure this is in the right place but i need a bit of advice/information.

I am worried about my neighbour and his intentions, he has ran away from his previous area in London and has not explained why (not that i have expected him too) he is always offering to have my son on his own (whether i am looking to much in to this i dont know) He now lives in a very secluded village in which he had never heard of nor seen until he moved he is very wary of police and just generally a bit odd.

The reason i am saying all this is because i would like to know if i could find out previous convictions etc to put my mind slightly at rest. I may be completely over reacting but in this day and age and for my sons safety i would like to know. I don't want to throw accusations as this can be very damaging to a person if i am barking up the wrong tree.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

sex offenders register is your best bet, it doesnt sound like any other conviction would worry you as much.

Whatever you do never let him look after your son anyway, even if you find nothing on any record he still sounds like a dodgy character - not someone you would want to leave a loved one with alone.

You can contact the Police and ask specifically about him. Explain your concerns.

Your son's safety will not be at risk if you do not allow him to be left alone with this person regardless.

Where has he said he used to live? Coul dyou maybe get the local paper online from there and see if there's anything in there? Have you googled him? tracked him down on facebook?

Don't go looking for something and when you don't find it keep looking. It may just be he's a bit 'odd' to you. People sometimes get so aborbed in hunting for something, when everything is clear they can't rest until 'something' is found

Don't let you son go with him if you're at all concerned though.

Yes i agree with you there if i simply cannot find some one then i will just put it down to him being odd. I have tried googling him but he is known by 3 different surnames so i dont know which one is the real one. Im just going by several things others have said and my instincts but i dont want to be constantly looking for something which is not there hence why i asked advice first.

My son has never been left with this man and never will be, but i think its only fair if i put my mind at rest as both me and his other neighbour have children, im sure all other parents on here would feel the same.

How do you know that he 'ran away' from his other area? I hope we aren't starting to see the beginnings of yet another witch hunt.

I am quiet and keep to myself, hardly ever chatting to my neighbors - does that make me dodgy or private?

At the same time, exercise the same caution you should be regarding everyone with and you should be fine.

If you found out that he had previous convictions, how would this put your mind at rest? Are you going to be doing something different now that you would know this?

Your child should never be left with anyone you dont really know and certainly people you dont trust , wether or not they have convictions or not.

Give the data protection act, are you actually allowed to do this?
