Opinions please

Does anyone think the above development will improve the property market in that area - bringing it into the limelight etc so driving prices up?

No, house prices will collapse when the credit bite comes as it must as we are the only ones that can pay for it as we have already with the banks &c.

No. Why would their facilities for temporary teams of athletes affect the housing market?

Medway exists. Plenty of people know about it already.

What do you mean you are looking into it? You are looking into it because you want to buy there because you think house prices will go up?

There was a rocket in house prices in London in 2006 when everyone was getting excited about the Olympics and thinking prices would rocket in 2012. What happened was that prices rocketed in 2006 with people tripping over themselves to buy before prices rose 2012. And then they crashed.

It's like the lastminute.com shares. Once everyone is talking about something, it's already gone. A big pyramid scheme. Like Bulgaria (that was supposed to be a mega holiday destination - I still don't know anyone that's been and I have well travelled friends!) or Dubai, or 'London Living' City Centre Apartments in towns and cities that had plenty of space for houses. The people in at the beginning make a shed load, the people at the end lose when there are only ordinary punters left to buy and the true value is realised again.

I heard Blackpool was good to buy now they're in the Premiership. Sigh. Most people in Blackpool probably dream of owning a house.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
  • lol - thank you for your post!

I just wondered whether it would encourage more people and interest into the area and whether the local council would stick to their word and develop the town as they plan.

I bought property here in 2006 when my previous relationship dissolved and I am currently letting it. I am just interested to see if people think the area will ever go up by a decent amount in the future. Ideally I'd like to keep this property to pass to my son when he is older, but I know this might not be possible and so also look into the options of selling.

I've been to Bulgaria - spent 4-5 weeks there as a student, between a month in Romania and visiting Istanbul.

Have you tried talking to local estate agents? They should know what is happening on their patch. Just be careful to seperate the marketing from the genuine opinion.
