Lloyds TSB charges

A payment due in my account friday was late, and a payment went out friday pm making me overdrawn by £160. The payment went in on Monday am, making me in credit by a couple of grand, but I got a letter saying I'm being charged £75 (£15+£20x3) for this.
Presumably, there is nothing I can do about it? other than beg perhaps
Such a waste of £75

If this is the first time this has occurred, and your account is otherwise generally in good standing, call the bank and ask if they will consider removing the charge as a gesture of goodwill. They often do for a 'first offence'.
Why was the payment in late? Do you have any grounds to ask the payer to pay your consequential losses (i.e. bank charges) because of the late payment? You can usually do this if it was wages etc.
Do you regularly credit the account with a couple of grand? If so, perhaps ask if the bank will consider an authorised overdraft? I know at one time LLoyds gave lots of people overdrafts equal to their typical monthly salary paid in (that's how I got mine) but I think they stopped doing that as people are supposed to ask for overdrafts, not just be given them.
If you don't use the authorised OD, it doesn't cost you anything (but check there are no application fees now) and if you do, it's significantly cheaper than unauthorised fees."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
