Options
I am looking to purchase a 19" TFT monitor. Ebuyer have several good offers

Amongst many others on the site.

I'm just wondering which may be better a normal monitor or the widescreen. I mainly use my PC for browsing the web, shopping a nd some online gaming.

I'd be interested in any opinions :)

I'm not looking at price at the moment. I'm just wondering is it best to get a wide screen TFT or just a standard one?

I would buy a widescreen because I think it looks so damn good (My laptop has a 15.4" widescreen, desktop a 15" 4:3 TFT) :)

Purely down to personal preference though

Do you ever intend to watch DVDs on your PC? Do you do a lot of document editing? If so, go for the widescreen, if not go for a "normal" monitor.

Having said that (and looked at the links) the widescreen looks better as it has a higher contrast ratio and faster response time and is cheaper.... go figure....

  • if you are gaming (Joint Op's for me) go for the normal, get a low response time - say 8ms for best results and make sure you have a kick !!! GFX card.

Dont go for widescreen unless you watch a lot of DVD's or TV on your PC imo

Go for the 2 nd one out of the 2 you posted or go or on Aria -

My b/f has just been looking at getting a TFT monitor and was looking at getting possibly getting a widescreen. IIRC he decided against due to the extra number of pixels being small compared with how much bigger the screen size was. Later today I've been asked to order the Viewsonic VX922 19" screen found here:

    Hope that helps!
Out of my mind. Back in 5 minutes.
