Applied for a silver card through sygma and got this reply

We can confirm that, whilst considering your application, we looked at information from the following credit reference agency – Equifax PLC, PO Box 1140, Bradford, BD1 5US. You may wish to obtain a copy of your credit file , at a cost of £2, from Equifax. Information advising you how to make requests for information can be found at www.equifax.co.uk.
We may also consider information from the following fraud protection agencies:
1. National Hunter, PO Box 2756, Stoke on Trent, ST6 9AQ
2. CIFAS, 6th Floor, Lynton House, 7-12 Tavistock Square, London, WC1H 9BQ.
If your questions are not answered by the information obtained from Equifax, you may make a Subject Access Request, at a cost of £10, to one or more of the above companies. Information advising you how to make requests for information can be found at www.nhunter.co.uk and www.cifas.org.uk.
Calls to 0871 numbers will cost 7p per minute (including VAT) from BT landlines (current at December 2009). Cost of calls from non-BT landlines and mobile phones will vary. Please check with your phone provider. Calls may be monitored or recorded for the purpose of quality control.

    It means that they've searched Equifax and may also seek information from the fraud agencies, it does not mean for you as such but it is always good to check credit report before any application just to make sure that information they hold about you is accurate
