Hi all this is a great idea:T Think the other threads can get a bit graphic for some mens delicate little eyes:p:rotfl:
Now I know I'm the woman but I'd appreciate any input for what a New Dad will need/want, for some reason they seem to get left out on t'interweb so I can't find any checklists or anything for hubby:( So far I've got only tongue in cheek things and would like a serious suggestion(I want hubby to know I'm thinking of him:o).
Heres what I can think of:
    Alcohol
    Ear Plugs
    New Xbox Game

    TIA guys x
if you want your husband to ignore you and your new baby for the first few months then go ahead and buy him those things, but I'm thinking you'll want as few distractions as possible:p

My other suggestion here is let the dad do the bathing (obv together initially) but that gives him some bonding time with the baby. Couple this with a baby massage with pharmacy grade olive oil afterwards will form a strong bond and baby will quickly recognise his scent and eventually his face.

(Another idea, they normally do baby massage at antinatal classes or postnatal, get him along to it).

Don't let us shirk out of nappy changing. We have to get used to it. This is going to sound odd, but your own breast fed babies don't smell as bad as you'd imagine.
you don't need pharmacy grade uber expensive oil just the same stuff you roast your veg in is fine.
BF babies smell lovely, FF babies have very stinky nappies by comparison and don't get me started on weaning nappies _pale_
really must go now seeing as I'm not a dad!

  • I think we've cracked potty training with my eldest (2.5). It's been a long road and as people have told me it just 'happens when they're ready'.

Any ideas for no.2s at the moment she's still doing those in her panties?

If I was around more often, I could be more proactive.

I'm not a new dad, as my youngest are 9 and i'd be hopeless on giving advice on boys (even though I was one once, I can't remember that far back ;) ) however my newish partner has started talking about babies :o so maybe i'll need some reminders on how I did it a few years back (as a single parent for over 3 years)

As pwpevans states, it's the hardest job in the world, but the best.

Same as the urinating. I don't know what word you use for number 2's with her, but pointing and tapping the potty with the word you use should encourage her.
  • Well in Bulgarian (my wife is Bulgarian) they call it 'aa' 'aa', which I adopted as it's better than the alternative. I think she knows deep down, we even transferred it from her panties to the potty and we flushed it down the toilet together, she's quite bright for her age... but she prefers to stand up to do it. I'm sure it will come with time... and a lot of soiled panties.

She's done it!! I guess time and support was all that was required. She was so proud too.

Nice work! hopefully now as she was so proud she wont have many accidents. excellent stuff :)

Incidently whats the most common terminology you guys use for 1's and 2's? im guessing its mainly weewee for 1's but do most people say poopoo for 2's?

Indeed they make me proud all the time, the joys of parenthood.

They're away at the moment and I miss them like crazy...

Building them a playhouse to keep me occupied.

(Note used Waltons not gbd because they wouldn't price match (as promised) but they do have a good 3D vid of the house)

So hopefully they'll be pleased with that when they come back.
It's white and lavender door/window boxes/shutters and will be pink inside.
