    Hello,

My Father has an AVIVA "Portfolio Bond" (purchased 10 years ago). How can I find out if he can cash in without incurring the MVR?

    Many Thanks.

Read policy docs or ring them on 0800 068 6800. You will need policyholder present to give them permission to talk to you.

Mine was also a "Portfolio Bond" so I reckon your father's will have the 10 year MVA free condition. If so, they will write to policyholder approx 2 months before 10 yr anniversary date notifying you of that getout and offering a carryforward option.

Now you mention it, I seem to remember a similar letter five (?) years ago. He got a statement a little while ago and the deduction was quite a hefty one.

IIRC, the anniversary is around Aug / Sept 2010.

Just checked - I got letter exactly 3 months before anniversary. If you don't get one 2-3 months before I would respectfully suggest you contact them to confirm whether there's an mva free surrender option.

The above link gives you an up to date value of your units.
Keep a check on them as the anniversary nears because mistakes can and do happen when these companies calculate your valuation.

Thanks for that. Do you have a similar link for current MVRs? I've looked but can't find it.

I passed the information on to my Father and he just telephoned me to say he got a letter this morning advising him that the MVA would not be applied.

    Kind Regards,

Yee-ha, free of Aviva at last.

    Thanks for that OSHead

How long from the 10th anniversary until you got the dough?

Also is this the correct address to let them know you want out on the anniversary.
