playing old 95/98 games on xp

My father bought some old windows 95/98 games and says he is unable to play these on windows xp. I wonder if anyone knows of any software which could allow old games to be played on xp.any help appreciated

before you look for other software, have you tried changing the compatability mode?

right-click the game icon, select properties. There'a a tab with the title Compatibility where you can run it as a 95 game etc

I find that this works nine out of ten times!

There is a site called 'home of the underdogs' which has old games to download. They are all abandoned by the games company and so not illegal.
Many of them have instructions on how to get them running on XP.
Sometimes it is as simple as changing the path in a text file.
Maybe he could find some of his games listed there.
Another possibility is to go to the game makers site and see if anyone else has asked this as sometimes they will have instructions to get them running on XP.
