Considering buying a new car for 1st time (a KIA)...baby on way..should i purhase?!
For the first time in my life I am contemplating getting a new car, with KIA seeming a viable choice.
I have been looking at the RIO 1 (like it as its cheap!) or Cee'd Strike (prefer the styling and heard better things over the RIO)
My current car will only have a few more months left in it i think (Vauxhall Astra 1.6 mk3) , and with a baby on the way in the summer id like a replacement car sorted before he/she arrives!
It seems like i have missed out on the scrappage scheme
however I may know someone who can help me out with a friends/family deal that KIA offers. This may allow me to get a Cee'd Strike for £9k.
I will probably have £4k available for the purchase and may be able to borrow the rest of the money from a relative to avoid expensive finance options of dealers.
With a baby on the way a new car with a 7 year warranty seems very appealing, however it seems servicing costs arent that cheap with KIAs.... therefore will it actually give me the savings and peace of mind id like to get?
Im in a bit of a dilemma as part of me is thinking that I should get a 2nd hand car with my £4k (or less) so im not in debt with a baby and one of us working...but then dont have the peace of mind.
Would be interested in your thoughts.

More and more people are buying Kias lately - most accounts hold that the Ceed is a very good car, and as you've said the seven year warranty is a big selling point.0

Buy the Kia C'eed, not the Rio, it is far better car.0

Aye, I've got a 03 Rio, and would definitely get a Kia again (especially with the warranty now), but would go for the Ceed rather than a Rio as for the price difference you get a lot more in the Ceed's.
I did have a couple of Kia vouchers for something or other a couple of months back, but I think they got thrown out as at the time I didn't know anyone who was looking at them(I think they were only a couple of hundred off or something)
IIRC at the moment some Kia dealerships are getting senior guys from Kia in who can authorize larger than normal discounts on some models, I know our local one had such a guy in for a week about a month back.0 -
kia ceed 1.6 cdti 113 i'd recmend! allot of gadgets with the kia also climate control, air con with cooled glove box, electric windows (some has just the front and some have both front and back) 16' alloy wheels, lumbar support passenger and driver side, heated electric mirrors, good dash layout with red illuminations, ipod mps connectivity, trip computer, good boot space, isofix carseat location and lots more. low tax and insurance and a good buy 2yr or 3 year olds with low mileage are around £5800 to £9000 being the 07-09 plates and the model ive listed give you better resale value! £4000 is a good budget to have campare dealer finance packages i know the dealer near me has a ticket2drive offer fixed 7% apr and vehicle upgrade in 3-5 years and bigger the deposit the cheaper the repayments.0

thanks for the info... I would be able to borrow an interest free loan from parents who would be willing to help me out and save me paying interest.
Im just a cautious person when it comes to finances (not stingy... just shrewd!), and never ever been in debt. Always bought 2nd hand cars as thats all i could afford.
Just trying to make sure id be able to pay things back when there is only one of us working when the baby arrives in July. :think:0 -
There's quite a lot of stuff about this make on a thread I started (Car Scrappage - is it worth it?) and ‘Buying a new car – advice if possible’ which may be of interest.
I've been looking at What Car? etc and Kia's get good ratings for the warranty, but overall come out average. It might be worth having a look at some of these magazines and see what you think. Also, websites for Parker's Guide etc often do reviews.0
