Help - leaking hot water cylinder

HI
This morning woke up to find hot water cylinder in airing cupboard was leaking. The leak didn't seem that bad at first so we have arranged someone to come out to change cylinder on thurs.
The cylinder is still leaking quite a lot and I am worried floor will rot, ceiling go through etc. It's oozing more than gushing.
We have turned off cold water feed valve, turned off central heating and DH is trying to stop leak with Fernox but still ooze continues.
What should we do tonight?
Be really grateful if anyone has advice.

Hi
Depends where it's leaking from.
If it's the c/h side then turning off the hot water supply to the cylinder won't help.
If you have two storage tanks in the roof (one small , one large) then see if the smaller one is filling. This would be the c/h side and would not normally fill.
If it is the hot water side then you would need to drain the cylinder (as said) via a drain off (easier said than done with some drain offs)

Thanks for the replies
The water seems to be leaking from the top of the cylinder around the vent pipe (?). It is difficult to see exactly where the leak is because of the insultation foam.
Haven't gone up in roof as yet.
Can see drain off - is it easy to release or am i likely to cause a bigger flood?0 -
if its leaking at the top then turn the water off and run all the taps to empty the pipes.
it will empty to the draw off pipe level.
the leak should then stop PDQ.Get some gorm.0 -
Hi
It would seem to be the hot water side.
Ormus would be right.
