Ours too. Used to be ALL Eastern European numberplated cars! Now it's all expensive german & Jap UK reg'd cars.
Will the prices go up to suit?!0 -
Yes, I too was a food snob and would only shop in Tesco's but boy have I opened my eyes now!
I started out trying to buy basics in Aldi / Netto / Lidl and finishing off the shopping in Tesco's but I think in the last 2 months I've only been in Tesco's once now!!
Netto is great for basics (tinned tuna, Sweetcorn, tomatoes, dog food, pasta, yes even fruit and veg) and then I go to Aldi to get anything slightly more treat-like (the fresh ciabatta at 49p for a huge one is much nicer than Tesco's at 3 times the price..., gorgeous Brussels Pate at 57p, ice cream at £1.49 a tub, etc etc!)
If I want anything branded I'll wait until it comes into Netto (things usually come round on some kind of rotation if they're not in permanent stock.)
Toiletries now all come from Wilkinson (good deal cheaper than Tesco's and loads of special offers!)
I think one thing you have to remember though is that you won't necessarily find everything you were looking for in Aldi / Lidl / Netto - often things are out of stock or only in as special promotions. But it's easy enough to find something else to replace it instead if you don't want to be bothered to make a separate trip to Tescos / Asda.
I honestly don't know why anyone would shop in Tesco's now except for laziness and snob value.
JamesTotal Debt: Owe about £19,000 on credit cards plus £24,000 which is my half of joint loans.0 -
I had to smile.
Went into Aldi a few months ago and saw the guy who owns the local chinese stocking up on frozen chips and frozen peas! Made mum and I smile. Still, at least we know where they come from now! It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0 -

Don't forget Savers too for cheap toiletries/cleaning stuff. Didn't think you could get cheaper than Wilkinson but some stuff is. Wilkinson has taken over from Hyper Value as my dad's favourite shop though!!!!
BTW one thing that stuck out from the "what to buy/not to buy" thread was not to buy Lidl's baked beans as everone seemed to think they were rank!!! I'm a baked bean snob - Heinz for me or nothing!! DP loves the HUGE tins of Tesco Value beans and sausage - yuuuukkkkkk!!!!
JxxxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
Lidl have started doing some heinz products - baked beans, soup and ketchup.. I'm slightly concerned they'll go the way of aldi..0

I tend to favour Lidl although I have been known to use Aldi occasionally. The dog will only eat their Chub dog food so I am forced to go in there. I had a look in Kwik Save today and was tempted by the bogof offers on own brands. Tesco might as well close down as far as I am concerned and I only use Sainsburys for Red Label tea (and then only when it's on bogof).0

Ive noticed alot of products from Lidl/Aldi contain Hydrogenated oils, these are 10x more damaging than saturated fats, so please check the label.

Don't they make a bit of a mess of your bed sheets? Still I suppose Lidl's soap powder's also cheap.
