Post office insurance madness
Go easy on me as I rarely post anything and I'm so angry I haven't looked to see if anyone else is talking about this at the moment.
So Post Office Insurance were the cheapest quote this time last year but they didn't really make it clear that each time I farted (in or out the car) I would be charged £20 for the privilage.
Next comes the unfortunate event of me telling them I didn't want to renew my quote and somehow they mis-interpret that as increase her premium then just take it from her account.... £428! It was a mere £250 last year (not including the well over £100 fart money). So I've just rung them only to be told by this lady who sounded bored that she would have her boss "listen to the records to see if I really said I didn't want it" because apparently its in my notes that I wanted it!
OMG! I am so angry right now! But what if they come back and say that I did say I wanted it what then? Does anyone know? Can I ask to hear the recordings?

Usually they'll tell you they can't find the recordings for that specific call and just cancel your policy.
I used to work for a major mobile network in customer services and this was the usual outcome of a "get the call records" type situation.
I seriously doubt they would tell you anything that's not actually in the call if they do bother to review it - you could request notes and call recordings under the DPA and they'd be royally screwed.0 -
Of course you can ask to listen to the recordings, whether they can provide them is another issue entirely.
If you dont get it sorted take it to the FOS. In the interim how did they take the money? Direct Debit, or off the Card?Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
Elephant did this to me when I changed car during my renewal period - had no problem getting a refund though.0

yes you could request all the information they hold on you
i believe there is a max fee of £10 for this
though if you did say you didnt want it then you wont need to0 -

They took it off the credit card I originally paid for it on, luckily its now £0.0

You should have 14 days cooling off period to change your mind and get a refund anyway. If they won't do so, threated to do a chargeback if you paid by visa. That might shut them up. Its another brand run by BISL who have incompetent staff and want admin fees for anything.
Aviva are the same - I paid £17.60 to change the registration number on my policy and they just didn't bother sending out a replacement certificate until I phoned again to ask for it
I then got my "duplicate certificate as requested" followed by another saying "thank you for making changes to your policy...your new certificate is enclosed - dated AFTER the duplicate :T
Know of any decent insurers that are friendly to young drivers ? :rotfl:0 -
ok. In their favour I have just rung them again and they have now refunded me the full ammount without "listening" to their tapes.
Thanks everyone, rant over!0 -
When something looks too good to be true....it usually is.
Good rant though Mel i enjoyed that..;)0 -
I try to use credit cards that expire before renewal.
It's not hard, since cards tend to get renewed every two years.
They send me e-mails to get me to update the card details,
but I'm not dumb.0
