Seller asking me to send payment to different paypal address? Safe or not?

Hi,
just won something and immediately got an email saying their paypal is not taking payments which they are trying to fix but in the meantime can i please pay by either Google checkout or postal order. - Well, NO! I only pay by paypal in order for the protection it gives.
I sent an email back sying in that case please cancel the transaction as i intended to pay with paypal funds anyway.
Just got an email back saying sorry, in that case please send payment to my boyfriends paypal with a note saying what the item is.
So basically am i safe to do this and would i get any protection if the item doesn't turn up?
